Around The Table - Hosts

What is Around the Table?

Around the Table is an opportunity to connect with others from our Evergreen community. On the first Sunday of each month, groups will gather at different times and in different places to share a snack or a meal together and to engage in meaningful conversation about life and faith. Our focus this year will be The Lord's Prayer. This will be a great chance to meet new people, build relationships across generations, and develop lasting connections!

When will Around the Table happen?

Around the Table will take place at various times throughout the day on the first Sunday of each month, November – May.

What are the responsibilities of an Around the Table host?

· As a host, you will be making a commitment to meet with and facilitate conversation within your group on the first Sunday of each month from November to May. You can choose the time and location that your group will meet.

·  Choose a meal or a snack that you would like to serve or coordinate with the group to share in the provision of food. Are you a morning person? Maybe you’d like to host a group that gets together before the service for coffee and muffins! Do you love hosting people for meals? Maybe you’d like to have a group over for a potluck style dinner! Looking to keep things simple? Consider having a group over for snacks in the afternoon!

· You will be sent a link to a video that focuses on the Lord's Prayer that can be watched each month. You may choose to watch the video before hosting your group, or you might want to view it together when your group has gathered.

·  Each month, you will receive a list of conversation questions. Use any number of the questions to guide your group through some meaningful conversation focused on the theme of the video.

·  Do your best to ensure that everyone feels welcome and valued as you gather together.

How will participants be assigned to groups?

Participants will sign up to attend an Around the Table group according to the time and location (e.g., Simcoe at 2pm.) They will not be provided with the host’s name before signing up. Our hope is that Around the Table will create space for those within our church family to meet new people and connect across generations.

People will participate in the same group for all five Sundays of Around the Table. This will give participants a chance to get to know one another on a deeper level over the course of the five gatherings.

Interested in hosting?

In Early October, we will start to post host locations online for participants who are looking to join a group. At this point in time, we are looking for people who are interested in hosting.
