Around The Table - Hosts

What is Around the Table?

Around the Table is an opportunity to connect with others from our Evergreen community. On the first Sunday of each month from November through to May, groups will gather at different times and in different places to share a snack or a meal together and to engage in meaningful conversation about life and faith. Our focus this year will be the Fruit of the Spirit. This will be a great chance to meet new people, build relationships across generations, and develop lasting connections!

When will Around the Table happen?

Around the Table will take place at various times throughout the day on the first Sunday of each month, from November through May.

What are the responsibilities of an Around the Table host?

  • As a host, you will be making a commitment to meet with and facilitate conversation within your group on the first Sunday of each month from November to May. You can choose the time and location that your group will meet.

  • Hosts will decide what kind of food experience to offer their group. Are you a morning person? Maybe you’d like to host a group that gets together before the service for coffee and muffins! Do you love hosting people for meals? Maybe you’d like to have a group over for a potluck style dinner! Looking to keep things simple? Consider having a group over for snacks in the afternoon! Hosts can either provide the food themselves or coordinate with participants to share in bringing something along.

  • We’ll provide you with a set of cards that include discussion prompts, scripture references, and questions to spark meaningful conversation around this year’s theme: the Fruit of the Spirit.

  • Most importantly, your role is to create a space where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and encouraged as you learn and grow in faith together!

How will participants be assigned to groups?

Participants will sign up to attend an Around the Table group according to the time and location of the gathering (e.g., Simcoe at 2pm.) They will not be provided with the host’s name before signing up. Our hope is that Around the Table will create space for those within our church family to meet new people and connect across generations.

Once participants have signed up, they will stay with the same group for all seven Sundays. This consistency allows relationships to grow, giving space for deeper connection as participants share food, conversation, and life together.

Interested in hosting?

Early in October, we will post host locations online for participants who are looking to join a group. At this point in time, we are looking for people who are willing to open their homes and host an Around the Table group.
