Stay up to date about what's happening at Evergreen
Plan to Protect is training that is provided at Evergreen to ensure that our church is a safe place for everyone. Volunteers are trained in Plan to Protect to learn about abuse prevention and best practices in working with the most vulnerable members of our church family.
Our fall Plan to Protect training sessions have been cancelled and will be replaced with an online version of the training.
If you need to receive Plan to Protect training and have not received the training link and accompanying information, please contact us and we will get you set up!
At Evergreen, we believe that we are called to do everything possible to share the gospel so that others can experience the same hope, wholeness, and freedom that we have experienced through Jesus Christ. In order to make sure we have space for everybody who calls Evergreen their home and everybody coming to Evergreen to explore faith for the first time, we will be moving to two services on October 6th. This is something to celebrate!
The services will take place at the following times:
Early Service: 9:15 am
Late Service: 11:00 am
Making this change means that we have an increased need for people to use their gifts to joyfully serve within our church body - especially in Children's Ministry, but in all ministry areas.

God designed us for community. Our Small Group Ministries exist to create space for each of us to grow closer to God and closer to each other. At Evergreen, we have 3 different kinds of small groups:
Life Groups: Life Groups are the people you share life with – the big stuff, the little stuff, and lots of fun in between. They are people you laugh, pray, grow and serve with. Life Groups meet regularly in people's homes or in the community. Some groups meet weekly, others meet monthly, and some meet on a more sporadic basis. That format followed in each Life Group looks a bit different, but all life groups talk together, grow in their relationship with Christ together, and pray together.
Study Groups: Study groups meet on a short-term basis. New study groups are launched on an ongoing basis over the course of the ministry year. Sometimes they meet in peoples' homes, and other times they take place at Evergreen. Study groups provide an opportunity to connect with a group of people and focus on learning about a specific topic in the context of community.
Activity Groups: Activity groups provide space for people to gather together around common interests. People with shared hobbies get together on a regular basis to enjoy each other's company and engage in conversation while doing what they love!
Our official Life Group Launch took place on October 6th. Some groups may have started earlier or may be starting later as leaders cast their vision for their group and get things rolling. Keep an eye on our groups page to stay up to date on what groups are available.
Joanna Pharazyn, one of the missionaries that Evergreen partners with in Portugal, will be leading two evenings of intercessory prayer with us this fall. Join us as we gather to pray together.
On Thursday, October 17th we will be holding a congregational meeting at 7:00 pm at Evergreen. The Elders will be moving a motion to borrow funds from our denominational conference in order to pave the parking lot before winter.
Help create opportunities for artisans in developing countries to earn income and share their stories. The Simcoe Festival Sale will take place on October 25th and 26th in the First Baptist Church Gym. Stay tuned for more information on how to get involved!
