Called to Be the Church
In the book of Acts, we hear about the incredible impact the gospel had on the early church as they lived out their faith in the context of community. It is described like this:
"And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity — all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved." Act 2:46-47
As a community of believers, we want to be the kinds of people who give and receive with open hands. We want to be the kinds of people who embody the generosity of God and take care of one another in times of need. We believe that this is simply part of what it means to be God's people - to be the church!
As we all feel the impact of COVID-19 in different ways, our hope is to be able to facilitate connections and create opportunities for this kind of community to exist at Evergreen. This is a place where you can share your needs and ask for support. It is also a place where you can express your willingness to lend a hand to someone else. Once we receive your submission, we will be in touch to connect those with needs to those who can help.
These are challenging times, but we can hold firm to hope, knowing that God is with us and that we are all in this together!
